Auger conveyor is commonly known as twists dragon. It uses the rotating spiral blades to move the materials and carry out auger conveyor transporting. The force that prevents the material from rotating with the auger conveyor blades is the weight of the material itself and the friction resistance of the auger conveyor housing to the material. The rotating shaft of the auger conveyor is welded with spiral blades. The facial forms of the blade have a solid shape, belt type, and blade surface type according to the different conveying materials used in conveying. The auger conveyor's screw shaft has thrust bearing at the end of the material movement direction to give the screw axial reaction force along with the material. When the machine length is long, a bearing should be added in the middle. It is a kind of conveying equipment widely used in mineral, feed, grain and oil, and construction industry. It is made of steel and used to convey chemicals and building materials products such as powder or solid particles with high temperatures.
2: The classification of auger conveyor
From the displacement direction and degrees of material conveying, the auger conveyor is divided into two types: horizontal auger conveyor and vertical auger conveyor.
According to the different characteristic requirements and structure of the conveying materials, auger conveyor can be divided into horizontal auger conveyor, vertical auger conveyor, bendable auger conveyor, and screw pipe (roller conveyor) conveyor.
(1) Vertical Auger Conveyor
The vertical auger conveyor's spirals are higher than those of a regular auger conveyor. The added material, under the action of centrifugal force, creates a friction force with the casing, which prevents the material from rotating with the spiral blade and overcomes the gravity of the falling material, thus achieving the vertical transport of the material. The machine has a small conveying capacity, small conveying height, high speed, and high energy consumption. It is particularly suitable for conveying powders and granules with good fluidity. It is mainly used for lifting materials, generally not more than 8 meters in height.
When the material is added to the fixed groove, due to the gravity of the material and the friction between them, the material piled up in the lower part of the groove does not rotate with the screw body, but only moves forward under the propulsion of the rotating screw blade, just as the non-rotating nut along the rotating screw as a translational motion, to achieve the purpose of conveying material. The machine is convenient for multi-point loading and unloading, and the mixing, stirring, or cooling functions can be completed simultaneously during the conveying process. It is sensitive to overloading and prone to clogging; it has crushing losses on materials. The Horizontal Auger Conveyor is of simple construction for easy installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. It is suitable for continuous and uniform conveying of loose materials under horizontal or slightly inclined (below 20º) conditions, with a working environment temperature of -20-+40℃ and conveying material temperature of -20-+80℃. The speed is relatively low to the vertical conveyor, mainly used for horizontal or small inclination conveying, with a conveying distance generally no more than 70 meters.
The screw pipe conveyor is welded with a continuous screw blade in a cylindrical chassis, and the chassis rotates with the screw blade. The added material, due to the centrifugal force and frictional force, rotates with the chassis and lifted. Under the gravitational force of the material, it slides down the spiral surface, so that the material rotates with the spiral tube, thus realizing the forward movement of the material. As the non-rotating screw along with the rotating nut for pan movement, it achieves the purpose of conveying the material.
The machine has low energy consumption and low maintenance costs；in the end feeding, it can adapt to the uneven feeding requirements, can be completed at the same time, convey the stirring and mixing and other process requirements. When the material enters too much, it will not produce a jamming phenomenon；it is easy for multi-point loading and unloading, and can convey higher temperature materials. It is suitable for the horizontal transport of high-temperature materials; It has good adaptability to materials with high temperature, uneven feeding, anti crushing, and anti-pollution requirements, and processes requiring multi-point loading and unloading. The practice has proved that when transporting cement clinker, dry limestone, phosphate rock, titanium ore powder, coal and slag, and other materials, the effect is good.
The particle size of the material added by the end feed port shall not be greater than 1 / 4 of the spiral diameter; the particle size of the materials fed from the middle feeding port shall not be greater than 30mm.To ensure that the cylinder does not generate deformation, the feeding temperature must be controlled below 300℃. The wear of blades and grooves is very serious when the machine transports materials with large wear resistance. This time, the auger conveyor is designed for the transport of silicon micro-powder, which is highly abrasive, therefore, it is unsuitable for the auger conveyor.
(4) Bendable Auger Conveyor
The spiral axis of the machine is deflectable, so the conveyor line can be arranged according to the space curve as required. The working principle is designed as a regular auger conveyor or a vertical auger conveyor, depending on the proportion of length between the horizontal and vertical (large inclination) sections of the layout line.
When used for conveying lines, it needs to be arranged arbitrarily according to the space curve, in order to avoid the occasion of material reproduction；when too much material has entered the casing or there are hard materials, the spiral will float freely, no jamming will occur; low noise. It is mainly used to transport materials horizontally and vertically at the same time. Generally, the rotating speed shall not be lower than 1000r / min in vertical conveying.
